Life at Credera Summary

Over the last six months we “open-sourced” the Credera culture in a series called Life at Credera. Our goals were to share what we’ve learned, take action instead of promote theory, and provide specific examples on the experiences that have worked for us. 34 Credera employees contributed over different 40 points of view (POV) on variety of culture related topics.

We categorized the 40+ POVs into 6 key areas that capture Life at Credera:

  1. Friendships & Fun

  2. Growth

  3. Higher Purpose

  4. Talent & Character

  5. Leadership

  6. Communication

What We Learned

Great company culture is not a formula. Culture flourishes when people choose to link arms and come together around a set of shared values. Evidence of what people really think and believe shows up during events (like our Fireside chats) and corporate traditions (like the Credera company trip or Service Day).

However, in our organization, culture is most evident and tangible in the daily, organic flow of people living their lives.

It grows during lunchtime breakroom discussions (by how people treat each other) and during challenging team meetings (when conflict is handled with humility and respect). It’s strengthened during difficult decisions to do the right thing (even if the outcome is lost revenue). Friendships are codified when working on challenging projects together and enhanced during competitive ping-pong games, or when the phrase “what can I do to help you?” is asked.

We also learned that our culture has opportunites for growth. For example, we need to get better at workplace diversity and hiring top talent at senior levels. We need to do a better job fostering a dynamic learning culture. Rather than canned training programs, we hope to provide every employee ample opportunities to develop professionally in the ways most suited to their specific learning style and speed. While the Life at Credera series may be complete, we will continue to work to improve our culture and share what we are learning along the way.

Below is a summary from the last six months. We hope these ideas and examples are a helpful resource for you.
