How Performance Reviews Promote Learning and Career Growth

Credera works hard to create an atmosphere that promotes employee growth both professionally and personally. Our desire is to provide an environment helpful to employees as they develop into excellent consultants, communicators, and leaders.

Career development is more than gaining deep expertise in a specific focus area. Leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are equally important. Continuing education, employee mentorship, informal and formal feedback all provide ample opportunities for employee learning and growth.

Career Performance Management (CPM) at Credera is a semi-annual process that teaches the skill of objective self-evaluation. Incorporating introspection is an emotionally intelligent and valuable skill that leaders must develop during their careers. Self-reflection helps leaders pause to reflect on success and to celebrate appropriately. It also reveals growth areas where leaders need to be challenged, work on change, or refocus their energy.

Ultimately the process provides a path for each employee to receive formal consolidated feedback from a Credera leader across several focus areas: practice specific skills, consulting skills, client service skills, company development, and business development.

In this video Blake Marley provides insight to his growth at Credera and how the CPM process has contributed to his career development.

According to his teammates, Blake is “a man whose height is only exceeded by intelligence, hilarity, and shoe size.” Blake joined Credera’s Mobile Solutions Practice as a Consultant in 2012 after graduating from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a minor in business administration. Today, Blake is a senior consultant.

Blake has provided significant value to several Credera clients. For example, at C Spire Blake helped build a front end application to run on large touch screen televisions and he architected the “My C Spire” app. During a previous engagement Blake helped build the front end for an enterprise marketing application. In this brief video, Blake mentions Credera’s review process and discusses the skill of introspection.

Life at Credera

We’re “open-sourcing” the Credera culture in a series called Life at Credera. We are sharing an authentic perspective on what we are learning and where we are growing. We are talking about friendships and fungrowth, higher purpose, talent and character, leadership, and communication.

We hope this series is a helpful resource on the continuous pursuit of a great culture. And we hope the results are encouraging to our company, employees, clients, and friends.
