It’s All About the People

Over the next few months, Credera will be publishing articles and blogs to give a glimpse into Life at Credera. This month, our focus is on friendships and fun in the workplace. A recent blog was posted with the title, “Should We Have Friendships and Fun at Work?” It only took me one second to answer the question, “ABSOLUTELY!”

In my role as a recruiter, candidates often ask me what drew me to the firm and what I like most about working here. I tell them, “It’s all about the people.” I am a working mom, and for me to be away from my home every day, work needs to be a very special place. I feel very fortunate to have found that type of place in Credera. I love how I can be a mom and have a career.

Friendships are extremely important to me. If I couldn’t have friendships and fun at work; I wouldn’t work. For me, it’s as simple as that. My friends at work are very special to me. Just last night, several of them surprised me for my birthday. We talked and laughed (a lot) over wine and cheese. They each went around the table and talked about what my friendship has meant to them, and we shared memories of fun times that we’ve had together at work.

Credera has lots of fun events, from the annual company trip to monthly happy hours, but it’s also the impromptu funny things that happen during work hours when these friendships are enjoyed the most. For example, last week, a few of us took on the task of cleaning out the refrigerators. This would be a dreaded chore for many, but my work friends and I turned it into a pretty fun time. Somebody made a video of us pulling out gross, moldy food, which turned out to be hilarious! You know you enjoy being with your work friends when they can turn hard work and chores into fun.

Doing meaningful work that I love alongside people that I love, and having fun doing it—that’s a pretty great combination.

LIFE AT CREDERA

We’re “open-sourcing” the Credera culture in a series called Life at Credera. We are sharing an authentic perspective on what we are learning and where we are growing. We are talking about friendships and fungrowth, higher purpose, talent and character, leadership, and communication.

We hope this series is a helpful resource on the continuous pursuit of a great culture. And we hope the results are encouraging to our company, employees, clients, and friends.
