What Does “Setting the Bar High” Actually Mean?

We often talk about “setting the bar high” at Credera. But what does that actually mean?

My first position at Credera was on the recruiting team, so I have first-hand knowledge of our hiring process. Rob, our CEO, isn’t kidding when he says we receive 100 candidates, phone-screen 25 people, interview 10, and hire one new employee.

Our “bar” calls for employees to meet two expectations:

  1. Excellence in their field (talent)

  2. High moral standard (character)

Credera hires people who want to grow, be challenged, and desire to help others do the same. As a result, I am continually impressed by the brilliant, innovative, diligent, and highly skilled professionals I get to work alongside.

Gabe Macias, Credera Art Director, strives to build a team that continues to raise the bar.

Gabe joined Credera in 2013, as a leader in Experience Design (XD) Practice. He has helped clients like Chili’s Bar & Grill, Carhartt, ClubCorp, and Freeman with research-based strategies and proven user experience techniques. Gabe is also responsible for recruiting the right designers and consultants to the XD team.

Gabe has a significant influence in the Credera office because he is humble, affirming and good at his work. He motivates others, contributes creative ideas, and makes data-driven decisions. We are challenged by his positive energy and intentionality.

“People play at such a high level here that it makes you so much better,” says Gabe. “They just have a knack for wanting you to be better at anything—whether it’s work or life.”

At Credera, we are serious about using our gifts and talents for the benefit of others. Whether it be our teammates, clients, or our local communities, we want to give back. Gabe serves others as an elder at White Rock Fellowship. He dedicates his time and energy to leading and loving his local community.

Regardless of level or title, everyone at Credera is a servant leader. The longer I work at Credera, the more I find this to be true.

Striving for excellence together, we refine one another’s strengths. We work together to achieve better results. In the end, we are better people, professionally and personally.

LIFE AT CREDERA

We’re “open-sourcing” the Credera culture in a series called Life at Credera. We are sharing an authentic perspective on what we are learning and where we are growing. We are talking about friendships and fungrowth, higher purpose, talent and character, leadership, and communication.

We hope this series is a helpful resource on the continuous pursuit of a great culture. And we hope the results are encouraging to our company, employees, clients, and friends.
