Credera Participates in 10th Annual Denver Startup Week 2021

Denver Startup Week (DSW) is a weeklong event intended to unite the entrepreneurial community in Denver and beyond, and celebrate great companies, innovation, ideas, and people. It includes sessions, presentations, panels, workshops, happy hours, celebratory events, job fairs and more.

DSW is a collaboration between the Downtown Denver Partnership, the startup community, the civic community, established businesses, and is the largest free entrepreneurial event of its kind. This year’s event celebrated the 10th anniversary of DSW and was the first ever hybrid event, after 2020’s event went global and virtual. The 2020 event attracted over 10,000 attendees from 35 different countries, and nearly 5,000 companies.

Our team at Credera was proud to be a sponsor of, participants in, and attendees of Denver Startup Week 2021. DSW is completely funded by sponsors, so as a Member Sponsor of the event, we had the opportunity to live out Credera’s mission as a global, boutique consulting firm to make an extraordinary impact on our communities.

As participants and attendees, we learned from the community and shared our own experiences. This year’s event from October 4 to 8 was hybrid, with most sessions being virtual, and some in-person networking events, happy hours, and an in-person job fair. Credera presented two virtual sessions and attended the associated job fair to talk to interested professionals in the Denver area.

Credera’s Denver Startup Week Sessions

Here’s a look at the two Credera sessions:

“An Opinionated Guide to Product Development”

This session was presented by Morgan Monzingo, a senior technology consultant in the Denver office, and Levi Fuller, a senior architect in the Denver office.

Product development isn’t easy—failing to address customer needs on time or failing to build stakeholder confidence can be critical and may lead to mistakes preventing a new product from launching successfully. But there are ways to avoid them. In this session, we break down the product development phases and provide an opinionated approach on how to design the customer’s user experience using design sprints, build a product backlog to translate the vision into minimum viable product requirements, estimate the backlog items, translate your backlog into a roadmap, enhance your team’s productivity, and constantly set expectations with the stakeholders. This session’s goal is that viewers will feel equipped with the tools, processes, and methodologies necessary to develop a successful product.

The presenters included:

  • Kara Williams, partner in the Denver office

  • Nickoria Johnson, Credera’s chief diversity officer and principal in the Dallas office

  • Phil Lockhart, Credera’s chief digital officer and partner in the Dallas office

  • Vincent Yates, Credera’s chief data scientist and partner in the Dallas office

Credera’s Involvement at the Career Fair

In addition to our team members creating and presenting great sessions, Credera also participated in the job fair at DSW. Our team of job fair volunteers reported that it was a great opportunity to meet and talk to a diverse group of professionals seeking new career opportunities. The career fair was also attended by a few dozen other companies big and small, true to the nature of DSW. It was exciting to see good attendance and enthusiasm at the event.
