Gail Stout Perry Joins Credera as Partner and Vice President

Credera, a full-service management and technology consulting firm, is pleased to announce the addition of Gail Stout Perry to Credera’s leadership team and Management Consulting Practice as a partner and vice president in the Dallas office. At Credera, Gail will focus on strategy formulation, strategy execution, and performance management.

“We are honored to have Gail join our partner team,” said Credera President, Justin Bell. “Gail’s grit, drive, and determination are what we look for in leaders. She has an excellent reputation from past clients and colleagues, and the ability to hit issues head-on.”

Gail brings more than 25 years of management consulting experience across multiple industries, disciplines, and technologies. Prior to joining Credera, Gail worked in management consulting at Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), the Balanced Scorecard Institute, and other firms. She has also held the role of chief strategy officer at a global software company. She is a co-author of a textbook, The Institute Way: Simplify Strategic Planning and Management with the Balanced Scorecard, which is available in English, Arabic, and Vietnamese. Gail earned her bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering with a focus on automation and robotics from The University of Texas at Arlington and her master of business administration degree in finance from Abilene Christian University.

We sat down with Gail to learn more about her journey to Credera:

What led to your decision to join Credera?

I am delighted to join a firm with the breadth of consulting and technology capabilities necessary to help clients succeed with strategy execution. In addition to the practice capabilities at Credera, I liked that Credera has a history of looking beyond a single project or engagement to find ways to truly help clients achieve meaningful business outcomes. This deliberate focus on the client and creating value for the client is important to me. The final deciding factor was the people of Credera. Credera’s values of professionalism, excellence, integrity, and humility are clearly reflected in the culture here.

How would you describe your approach to leadership?

I consider myself a player-coach. I enjoy helping people improve their skills and increase their knowledge, and I feel it is important to celebrate when a team successfully deploys their talents and capabilities to achieve results. But I also like to contribute my own skills and abilities to the team effort, as appropriate.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?

The overarching lesson is to “keep learning”!

In general, there are four categories of key lessons that I wish I had understood from the very beginning of my consulting career:

  1. Think Strategically – Don’t look at a task or function in isolation, but “pull up in altitude.” Strategic management principles and methods will help you to understand and interpret the big picture and to communicate the interplay of various elements to others.

  2. Don’t Underestimate the “People Factor” – There is a key variable (people) that will undoubtedly impact the success of your project/program/change effort. Change management principles and methods can help you understand and influence this key variable.

  3. Measurement Is Critical – Look for the drivers and relationships (such as capabilities, processes, outcomes, or strategies) that will lead to results. Measurement of results along with key drivers will then enable you to interpret and understand performance as well as enable you to find ways to influence performance.

  4. Keep Innovating – Innovation is rarely about a ‘Big Bang’ idea. At its essence, innovation can be as simple as making an incremental change to improve something. The lesson is to avoid atrophy by continuously looking for ways to improve things.
