From the AI Global Council: How to prepare your workforce to embrace AI with Cecilia Dones
The AI Global Council is a consortium of thought leaders and industry figures from a diverse range of backgrounds who have joined together in response to the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI).
We recently sat down with council member and principal at 3 Standard Deviations, Cecilia Dones, to discuss the question “How can you prepare your workforce for AI?”

Preparing your workforce for AI
Dones began by pointing out that AI is a new phenomenon for everyone, and there aren't any perfect answers to this question yet. This uncertainty, however, presents an opportunity: businesses can use this as a chance to experiment with what they feel will work best for their company, rather than strictly adhering to generic guidelines.
When building the right AI team for your organization, Dones feels the two most important traits to seek are:
Strong critical thinking skills.
Intellectual curiosity.
AI is set to bring about many changes, and with it comes a lot of unknowns. Having that strong foundation of analysts and dreamers can help ensure your organization continues pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with AI. As children, we are naturally curious and creative, constantly asking questions; Dones encourages organizations to foster that sense of childlike wonder as they prepare their organizations to tackle the world of AI.
Having critical thinkers on your team will become more important as AI becomes increasingly integrated into our lives. Advancements in AI will make distinguishing between what is real and what is not increasingly challenging. Organizations will need teams capable of adopting a scientific mindset, questioning information, and seeking diverse perspectives to make informed decisions. Otherwise, their people may fall prey to the same hallucinations as AI models often do.
