Favorite App: Vivino, a wine label scanning app.

Favorite Book: The Tipping Point by Malcom Gladwell

Passions Outside of Work: I enjoy playing the guitar, listening to country music, Peloton biking, and traveling.

Favorite Sports Team: Nebraska Cornhuskers

Office Music Playlist: Justin Timberlake, Chris Stapleton, and Brandon Heath

Personal Goals: I’d love to teach a college marketing class someday.

Personal Value: Loyalty, to my family and friends.

Best Advice You’ve Received: Do your homework! This advice came from my High School calculus teacher in preparation for a big test.

Role Model: My Dad, who is a farmer in Nebraska, taught me the value of hard work.

Life Hack: Always have a side project with a measurable output. Whether that’s a book to read, a garden to tend, or an extracurricular at work. Particularly in a fast-paced work environment, where you might be involved in multiple work-streams, having a sense of ownership over something tangible can protect your brain against stress and fends off some of the health implications related to learned helplessness.

Favorite Tech Tool: Last year Gabe Macias pointed me towards Sketch to create mockups for web components. I’ve lost count of the number of times that it’s allowed me to mock up some quick visual comparisons for a client – verbal explanations are great, but there’s nothing like sending out an image to make sure that everyone is on the same page.

Passions Outside of Work: Over the past year or so my most time-consuming hobby has been social gamification. I find systems that have ranking metrics based on (or are determined by) opaque algorithms and try to figure out how to “game the system” in a data-driven way. These have pushed me to become well-versed in a lot of different topics: diversity in technology, international business practices, photography, marketing, etc.

Personal Values: Put people first.

Client Experience Highlight: I discovered that one of the client developers who was generally in a system admin role freelances as a graphic designer. We started bringing him in more intentionally to the design conversations and he is now the owner of a multitude of the icons used on the site.

Best Advice You’ve Received: “Find the part of the project that no one wants to do, figure it out, and own it.” – Patricia Anderson

How You’ve Seen the Core Values Lived Out at Credera: When I tell students that questions are encouraged, and more experienced hires intentionally take time to make sure tasks are understood (or to help debug) the look on their faces is almost always one of excitement or disbelief. The servant-leadership model at Credera is real, and it’s exciting to work somewhere where someone doesn’t have to be your formally assigned mentor in order to want to help you succeed.

Favorite AppFacebook. I always like a good debate discussion, and Facebook never falls short in that regard.

Life Hack: Always wear lace-less shoes. This should save you about 3 hours a year in morning prep time.

Favorite Tech Tool: Heap. It’s is a cool analytics tool that will allow you to retroactively build just about any report you need. It also has a GUI implementation method for creating trackable events on a web app without touching code. Really empowering for marketers.

Passion Outside of Work: Freemasonry. I am very active in my local masonic lodge, and city & state leadership positions within the organization. I enjoy facilitating programs for our local communities and passing on a tradition that helped shape western civilization.

Office Music Playlist: At work, I generally listen to either Jazz or Classical. Rock and Rap are favorites of mine, but the lyrics are often too distracting while working.

Personal Values:  Intelligence and Tolerance. The world seems to always be better with more of these two.

Favorite Credera Memory: It’s hard to beat the sunrise on the beach in Mexico on our Company Trip to Playa Del Carmen.

Best Advice You’ve Received: Find hobbies and projects that can help you detach and unwind when not working, but can also help you hone a skill that can be a valuable secondary or tertiary trait to your profession.

Biggest Influence in Life: Steve Jobs
