IT Strategy Initiative for Worldwide Convenience Store Company 

Situation

This convenience store company operates or franchises over 30,000 stores worldwide and serves more than 6 million customers each day. The company desired to remediate the use of Social Security Numbers (SSN) for existing employees in their business processes and supporting IT systems and applications. Seeking to utilize technical assessment efforts already completed, Credera was tasked with developing a clear, business driven strategy for SSN remediation.



Credera's Contribution

  • Performed a business-driven assessment of current SSN usage to discover and rank SSN remediation opportunities
  • Outlined 18 high priority and 8 “quick win” remediation opportunities
  • Reviewed the 26 remediation opportunities and developed 6 remediation sub-project strategies during the Strategy Development phase of the project
  • Worked with business stakeholders to prioritize the various components of the remediation effort to help define a phased implementation plan
  • Produced a clear SSN Remediation Strategy & Roadmap with the following:
    • Prioritization of remediation projects covering a 2 – 3 year timeframe
    • Defined strategy for remediating SSN
    • Detailed workplans providing estimated duration, start dates, risks and assumptions, and resource recommendations

Result

  • A clear and compelling SSN Remediation Strategy outlining key projects for the next 2 – 3 years
  • Detailed plans for implementing recommendations
  • Business and IS stakeholder consensus on the SSN Remediation approach and timeline
